Housing Real Estate Prices in Slovakia Up 31.2 Pct. on Average in Q2

In the second quarter of this year, the growth rate of housing real estate prices in Slovakia moderately decelerated. The average price per square meter of housing real estate in Slovakia increased by 31.2 percent compared with last year to be at SKK 46,658 (EUR 1,549). Housing real estate prices grew 34.5 percent y/y in Q1. At the end of 2007, the average price per square meter of housing real estate was SKK 37,306 (EUR 1,238) and SKK 44,463 (EUR 1,476) at the end of the first quarter of 2008. This stems from data of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) which monitors real estate prices together with the National Association of Real Estate Agencies (NARKS).

From regional viewpoint, the highest average price per square meter of housing real estate last year was in Bratislava County where the price reached SKK 60,830 (EUR 2,019), up 27.2 percent y/y. Kosice County followed with SKK 35,732 (EUR 1,186), up as much as 58.7 percent y/y. Presov County was third with average price of housing real estate per square meter at SKK 31,742 (EUR 1,054), on a 54.8 percent y/y growth. According to NBS data, the lowest price of housing real estate was in Nitra County, where it reached SKK 22,621 (EUR 750.9), up 58.1 percent y/y.
